Task 1 - 24 hours to find a job in Budapest
Through the TalkToEU website we've received a lot of questions asking "How come foreigners can come here get jobs?". The reality is that Irish citizens can just as easily move to another EU country and apply for a job thanks to EU legislation relating to the free movement of people and workers. To demonstrate this, we've tasked Team One and Two with seeing how easy it is to get themselves an interview for a job in Budapest. Team Three will have to get an interview in Belfast. Click here to see each team's video report for this task!

Task 2 - Three countries, one day, no passports, no problems!
Thanks to the EU's Schengen agreement (which Ireland and the UK opt of out of) there are no more border stops or passport checks when traveling from one EU country to another. The point of this task is to show how easy it is as an EU citizen to freely travel around multiple countries without the need to go through customs, apply for visas and make sure you always have your passport.
Team 3 have a different task this round. We want to find out about how the EU helps to fund peace and reconciliation project between Northern Ireland the borders counties in the Republic of Ireland through its Peace III programme. Click here to see each team's video report for this task!

Task 3 - Complete a mini Citizens Initiative
The European Citizens' Initiative allows one million EU citizens to participate directly in the development of EU policies, by calling on the European Commission to make a proposal for a new law. We want Team One and Two (in Vienna), and Team Three (in Athenry, Galway) to collect one hundred signatures for a mini Citizens' Initiative. We want to find out what the people in Vienna and Athenry would like the EU to change. Click here to see each team's video report for this task! Click here to see each team's video report for this task!

Task 4 - What is the European Year of Citizens?
The European Year of Citizens 2013 is dedicated to the rights that come with EU citizenship. Throughout 2013 the EU is encouraging dialogue between all levels of government, civil society and business at events and conferences around Europe to discuss those EU rights and build a vision of how the EU should be in 2020. To help the get message across we want Team 1 and 2 (in Frankfurt), and Team 3 (in Dublin) to get onto a media channel (TV, Newspaper, Radio, Blog, or Online News publication) to tell people what the European Year Citizens is all about. Click here to see each team's video report for this task! Click here to see each team's video report for this task!

Task 5 - What rights do you have as an EU Citizen?
From everything to paying the same college fees as local citizens in any EU country, to having your social welfare benefits transferred to another EU country, and all the way to having making sure that if you somehow get arrested in another EU country, you're entitled have your rights explained in any official EU languages. In Brussels our three teams will be tasked to explain which EU right you at home would like to put to the test and explained. Check back soon to see each team's video report for this task!

To demonstrate this, we've tasked Team One and Two with seeing how easy it is to get themselves an interview for a job in Budapest. Team Three will have to get an interview in Belfast. Check back soon to see each team's video report for this task!

Sarah & Paul managed to put EU policy to the test and land themselves jobs. They had to brave the elements of a chilly afternoon in Budapest but it was worth it as they completed task one - Get a job! A local SuperMark and TUC crackers put Team One to work and helped us demonstrate how any EU Citizen is entitled to work in most EU countries.

Gaelglors Alex and Ailbhe hit the streets of Budapest, and with the help of a "random cute guy whose brother worked in Cork" they found a job in a local Vintage clothing shop. Talk about using connections to find a job! Alex on the other hand bagged herself a bit of work in the local Starbucks and put proof to the pudding that all you need is an EU passport to find job anywhere in the EU.

Our men in Belfast, James and Aaron set out early to find work. They tried and tried until Aaron landed a job in a local clothing store. Thanks to the Common Travel Area between Ireland and the UK, and EU policy that gives workers rights to everyone in the EU, the two lads managed to complete this task. They celebrated with their trade mark ehmm "meow" song. See the original here

Task 2 - Three countries, one day, no passports, no problems!
Thanks to the EU's Schengen agreement (which Ireland and the UK opt of out of) there are no more border stops or passport checks when traveling from one EU country to another. Team 3 have a different task this round. We want to find out about how the EU helps to fund peace and reconciliation project between Northern Ireland the borders counties in the Republic of Ireland through its Peace III programme.

After a hard day's work completing task one yesterday, Sarah and Paul had a early start to task one: Travel across three EU countries in one day without border checks, visas, or red tape. As Sarah and Paul found out, this was as easy as traveling from Dublin, to Galway, via Mullingar thanks to the EU's Schengen agreement.

With the help of the famously efficient train network on continental Europe, Ailbhe and Alex had no problems traveling through three EU countries in one day. The girls managed to see the sights along the way too in Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna and avoided showing a passport at any point during their journey between all three cities proving the concept of borderless travel within the EU.

James and Aaron were tasked to find out more on the EU's Peace III programme along the border counties of the Republic of Ireland the Northern Ireland. Patrick Kelly from the Challenge of Change programme which is part of the Peace III Southern Partnership in Newry. They found about how the Challenge for Change programme helps ethnic minority communities and individuals to help them integrate with the local community.

Check back soon to see each team's video report for this task!

Sarah and Paul had an early start with their task today in Vienna where they had to get local people to sign a petition on social media privacy in the EU. Likes like the made a good effort and managed to get 100 people to sign up.

Alex and Ailbhe started off from their hostel asking people to sign their mini Citizens' Initiative petition to get the EU to do more about protecting your privacy on social media. They got off to a great start and continued to rack up signatures for their petition with the help of some friendly Austrian locals. Not sure how they ended up in the pub, but it was a job well done.

When we asked James and Aaron from Eurotrip Team 3 to gather 100 signatures for a European Citizens' Initiative petition in Athenry, Galway, we knew it was going to be a tough task. Turns out it was more than an uphill struggle and they found nobody on the streets, (or fields) of Athenry to sign their mini Citizens' Initiative. They did a good explaining what the Citizens' Initiative is all about though.

Check back soon to see each team's video report for this task!

We asked Sarah and Paul to blag themselves onto a media channel (radio, tv,print or online) to talk about Eurotrip Citizen X. They didn't do a bad job and landed themselves a radio interview on Clare FM, a write up in a German online publication, as well as a mention in the Clare Champion. Not bad going.

Alex and Ailbhe had a very very busy day which saw them appear on local German TV station RTL Hessen, as well as chatting to a local radio station. They also got to show off their language skills and ask local people in Frankfurt about their thoughts on what it means to be European.

James and Aaron aced their task and managed to feature on two radio stations on Ireland show casing their Eurotrip experience. We reckon James has a promising media career ahead of him with this stellar performance.

Coming from Sixmilebrigde Co.Clare and and Caherdavin Co. Limerick, Sarah and Paul went all out in their originally Citizen competition entry video and showed us they have the skills to take on the Eurotrip challenge. They ticked all the boxes from gutsy to social media savvy to prove they have what it takes. Paul is an audio and visual media student and Sarah has a background in events management so we’re hoping to see some great creative executions in the videos they’ll be making along the way.

Both Alex and Ailbhe are European Studies students in Trinity College Dublin and impressed us with their multilingual skills when they entered the Citizen X competition with this entry video. Even more so they showed us that they can sing, dance, and have a laugh. Essential Eurotrip skills! Alex and Ailbhe also plan to make some of their tasks videos in 'as gaeilge' since Irish is one of 23 official languages of the European Union. As they are both studying German, they'll have a chance to brush up on their language skills along the way in Frankfurt and Vienna. They’re also both talented musicians and no strangers to youtube so hoping to see great videos from Alex and Ailbhe.

Hailing from Kells, Co. Meath and Palmerstown, Dublin, James and Aaron are both established youtubers and know what it takes to communicate over social media. They also wrote, composed and performed their own music in their Eurotrip Citizen X entry video. At least they didn’t use autotune! We’re sending James and Aaron across Ireland to undertake similar tasks to the two other teams in Europe to show most of the same EU rights that apply on the continent apply to Ireland and Northern Ireland too. We just hope the videos they make aren’t a dodgy as the music in their entry video.
