- Infrastructure in Roscommon has benefited greatly from EU funding.
The N4 improvements at Boyle, Meera, and Cortober have received EU support, as has the N5 Strokestown to Longford road.
- The EU co-financed the €13 million sewage treatment facility at Castlerea. The Ballaghaderreen Civic Amenity project, as well bring bank facilities in the county have also benefited from EU funding.
- Tourism infrastructure has also received a boost from EU funding, with the EU contributing €6 million of the €9 million total for the Lough Key Forest and Leisure Park. The Hodson Bay Aquarium and Boat Training Centre also benefited from EU funding.
- Roscommon’s Internet infrastructure has also benefited from an EU supported scheme to improve broadband access throughout the country.
- Village and urban renewal schemes, and the EU supported LEADER program, have boosted the quality of life of people across the county and have helped to diversify the rural economy.
- €9 million has been invested into improving childcare facilities and access across Roscommon.
- The European Social Fund has benefited Roscommon by investing in the county’s people through youth programs, adult education, employment initiatives and many more schemes.
- The Roscommon County Enterprise Board, which has benefited from EU funding, has helped start-up and growing businesses in the county.
