Ever wondered what the EU has done for Leitrim?
- Leitrim's infrastructure has improved greatly as a result of EU funding.
The county’s road network has improved, with the N4 from Drumsna to Longford part-financed by the EU, as well as a large number of non-national roads projects.
- Leitrim’s rail infrastructure has benefited from the improvement of the Dublin to Sligo line, which serves Leitrim.
- Recycling centres at Mohill and Manorhamilton, as well as water and sewage treatment projects across the county, have benefited from EU funding.
- Carrick-on-Shannon and Manorhamilton have also benefited from better broadband connections as a result of a scheme co-funded by the EU.
- Village and urban renewal schemes, and the EU supported LEADER program, have boosted the quality of life of people across the county and have helped to diversify the rural economy.
- €6.5 million has also been invested in increasing childcare facilities and access across Leitrim.
- The European Social Fund has benefited Leitrim by investing in the county’s people through youth programs, adult education, employment initiatives, and many more schemes.
- The Leitrim County Enterprise Board, which has received EU funding, has helped start-up and growing businesses across the county.
