About talktoeu
talktoeu is a programme by the European Commission Representation in Dublin, which aims to engage Irish citizens, and let them know what the EU does, and can do for them. The campaign also aims to get the opinions and views of the Irish population, since listening to the needs of the people is essential when coming up with new policies.
The programme will also inform people about how the EU works in order to foster a greater mutual understanding between the Irish people and the European Union.
In the following youtube clip Eddie McVeigh from the European Commission Representation in Dublin talks about what the talktoeu initiative is about. This clip was recorded at our first even in that took place in Dun Laoghaire in July 09.
To achieve these goals, the talktoeu campaign is centered around a national series of listening event and public discussions, where people are invited to attend, and ask questions about the EU, and find out what it has done for the area in which they live. The website, which you are currently visiting, will provide resources and information on the EU, and focuses on getting people to ask questions, and engage themselves with what the EU does.
So please feel free to ask us anyhing about Ireland and the EU and we’ll do our best to answer.
